Colapesce Cavallucci Decorative Plate #1

Fashioned of top-quality red clay and finely painted by hand, this striking decorative plate belongs to a collection - Colapesce - that is inspired by a legend popular in Sicily according to which a half-man, half-fish creature chose to physically replace one of the columns sustaining the island that was about to crack. A circular band depicting sea horses ("cavallucci marini" in Italian) encloses the blue central section from which stands out a sunburst motif of columns.
