Rainbow Polychrome Vase

Inspired by rainbows in its polychrome design, this drop-shaped vase with a flared mouth is a showcase of unrivaled marquetry mastery. Its shell is fashioned of padouk - a rare kind of reddish wood sourced from Asia - enveloped in a mantle of 883 pieces of different timbers: maple, olive, Canaletto walnut, durmast, Bahia walnut, amaranth, and padouk. Their manual juxtaposition creates horizontal bands in conflicting tones framing a central invalid design with triangles in maple and wenge.
