San Giorgio e il Drago Plychrome Sculpture

A fairytale take on the legend according to which Giorgio, a Christian soldier, saves a princess by slaying a dragon with a lance, this exquisite slipware sculpture was deftly handcrafted and glazed with painstaking attention to detail and deft use of oxides to obtain delicate pastel shades. The Christian hero is depicted alongside the princess on the saddle of his horse, the dragon downsized to an innocent, little monster.
