Exploring contrasts and criticalities typical of the relationship between humanity and nature-inspired this Faenza ceramic sculpture artfully painted by hand. Distorted skyscrapers englobed within a cubical section appear smaller than a couple of bees attacking them. Actualization of a reversed urban hierarchy, the theme is so desolating that even human presence is irrelevant.

Ennio Nonni
Emilia-Romagna, Italy | Artist
Urban planner, architect, and designer Ennio Nonni was born in Faenza in 1954 where he directed urban design projects for over 30 years. Nonni cultivated his passion for design through his minimal and colorful vases and sculptures characterized by the "faience", glazed ceramic earthenware, combined with themes of futuristic cities, enigmatic but not unlikely architectural fantasies. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Nonni directed two museums (MAP Institute and MUS.T) and introduced incentives for green construction, “biourbanism”, and contemporary art projects in 2019.Discover more
