Carola Castagna’s artistic journey began with life drawing and studies in artistic anatomy, which soon inspired her to explore three-dimensional forms. After attending a ceramics course to master techniques of shaping and firing, she enrolled in a sculpture school, where she immediately found her voice by creating heads of women from different ethnicities, blending technical skill with anatomical knowledge. Today, her work explores the evolving concept of beauty through sculpture. Drawing inspiration from the classical bust, she reinterprets the female face using a variety of clays, merging tradition with contemporary expression. Her creations reflect a multicultural reality, crafting imaginary faces that transcend a single origin. Each piece, rich in detail—especially in hairstyles and headpieces—emerges from the dialogue between material, hand, and a vision that evolves over time.Discover more
