Carla Lega Ceramiche

Emilia Romagna, Italy

Ceramist

Carla Lega started molding and decorating pottery in 1975 with her father Leandro. She is a lusterware master who deftly combines Faenza’s traditional ceramic techniques with a thoroughly modern and original style. Her latest creations are handcrafted using thin slabs of clay modeled by hand in "cartoccio" and other shapes using reduction firing at high temperatures, decorated with metallic and iridescent glazes. Recipient of several national awards, her collaboration with Italian writer Tonino Guerra represents an important step in her creative development.
