Portego is a new Italian brand showcasing the best of high-end craft that the Veneto region has to offer. Their work is the result of collaborations between designers and a select group of Veneto artisans. Portego’s products are contemporary in their aesthetic, with classical echoes. They asked designer Chiara Andreatti to create a line inspired by the Venetian Lagoon. Researching classical etchings, Chiara was able to give new life to a traditional technique from Vicenza, with an ironic appropriation of scientific illustration.
Portego, an Italian furniture accessories publisher, promotes design culture by uniting local designers and artisans, generating valuable connections in design and manufacturing
Portego is a young company in the Veneto artisan district. It has gathered the most talented signatures of designers from Veneto. From this project came the collaboration with Chiara Andreatti, a designer from Asolo who now boasts prestigious collaborations with the world of Italian design excellence. Her lines take up themes from the ceramicist tradition but renew its sign and cipher, creating a bridge with a modern language. The strictly handmade workmanship marries very well with the two main themes, one made of primordial signs contrasting with nineteenth-century female figures, and the other of more natural inspiration, in which marine and terrestrial themes, from seaweed to mushrooms, are spread over the decorations like an old rebus. Portego, with its network of innovative designers and skilled craftsmen, continues to define excellence in the world of interior design. Each piece, the result of a synergistic collaboration, not only embodies Italian art and craftsmanship, but also stands out for its ability to reinterpret centuries-old traditions with a contemporary twist.
