Carlo Mollino was born in Turin in 1905. Growing up in a cultured and affluent family, he showed early interest in art, photography, aeronautics and design. After earning his degree in architecture, he began to explore a variety of creative fields - not only designing buildings but also furniture, lighting, and interiors. Mollino’s early years were marked by a tension between classical architectural training and a desire to push beyond traditional forms, experimenting with fluid lines, sculptural shapes, and atmospheric spaces.

Over his career, Mollino designed not only houses and theatres but also a now-legendary range of furniture, lighting fixtures, and bespoke interiors. His pieces often played with sensual curves, elegant materials, and subtle tension between solidity and lightness - a style that defies easy classification. On top of that, Mollino was an accomplished photographer -his images reveal a fascination with the human body, costume, movement, and surreal compositions - a parallel practice that reflects the same bold creativity and aesthetic poetry found in his architecture and design.
