55 Cancri Round Painting

55 Cancri interprets one of the most enigmatic exoplanets known, an extreme world where pressure, heat and carbon appear to fuse into immense diamond-like structures. Hand-crafted in Italy as a unique work, it is built on wood with aluminum jigs and successive layers of epoxy resin, metallic pigments, rare earths, micaceous materials and reflective crystalline inclusions, whose spontaneous interactions produce optical depth and luminous variations that can never be identically repeated. The surface reads as dark and opaque until light strikes it and releases iridescent glints. For the artist, that duality mirrors the contrast between cosmic violence and the unexpected birth of beauty.
