A New Riviera Icon: Villa Beatrice

Tucked into the verdant hills between Paraggi and Portofino, where sun-drenched cliffs meet the Ligurian Sea, a historic villa is making its debut. Opening in July 2025, Villa Beatrice is Belmond’s first-ever private villa and a landmark expression of timeless Italian hospitality, design heritage, and discreet luxury.

Originally built in 1913 as Castello Odero by Tuscan architect Gino Coppedè, the villa once belonged to Italian industrialist Attilio Odero. A fusion of neo-Gothic forms and Art Nouveau flourishes, the architecture evokes the golden age of Riviera grandeur, with soaring arches, original frescoed ceilings, and sweeping sea views.

Over a century later, under Belmond’s stewardship, this aristocratic residence has been reborn as Villa Beatrice, an extraordinary retreat that pays homage to its legacy while ushering in a new era of curated design and artisanal detail.

After acquiring the property in 2021, Belmond embarked on a sensitive and ambitious restoration. Martin Brudnizki, known for his nuanced blend of old-world charm and contemporary sophistication, was entrusted with the interior design, while landscape architect Marco Bay reimagined the gardens as a lush, subtropical sanctuary.

Together, they preserved the villa’s architectural soul while introducing a fresh, expressive palette, pairing regional antiques with contemporary artworks, marble bathrooms with handcrafted finishes, and heritage textures with sunlit serenity.

Set across three principal floors and topped with a panoramic rooftop turret known as La Torretta, the villa offers accommodations for up to ten guests. Four refined suites are housed in the main villa, while a fifth, La Casetta, a freestanding cottage amid lemon trees, offers added seclusion. The living spaces are intimate and luminous, inviting quiet rituals of leisure: yoga at dawn on the private terrace, an alfresco lunch beneath climbing wisteria, or a sunset aperitivo overlooking the bay of Portofino.

Every detail reflects the ethos of Italian living, elevated through craftsmanship. From hand-restored frescoes and bespoke furnishings to the scent of citrus wafting through open shuttered windows, Villa Beatrice feels less like a hotel — and more like a private home infused with history and soul. Amenities are plentiful but discreet: a private pool with solarium, direct access to the sea, a dedicated butler, a chef on request, a gym, and outdoor spaces designed for long, lingering dinners under the stars.

Overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio, with views stretching from the rose-colored shores of Paraggi to the sun-bleached cliffs of the Cinque Terre, Villa Beatrice is a place where past and present merge. A Riviera home steeped in beauty, rooted in heritage, and redefined for a new generation of discerning travelers.
