How does your company’s historical heritage influence new collections?

Our long-standing expertise in woodworking for classic furniture is the foundation of every new collection. Even in our most contemporary lines, artisanal precision is evident in the wooden structures, construction details, and the hand-applied finishes on visible components. These skills—born from the classical world—continue to ensure solidity, elegance, and an unbroken connection to our heritage.

Which element (material, technique, or form) do you consider essential in distinguishing a Mantellassi piece?

The hallmark of Mantellassi lies in the synergy between Tuscan-crafted wooden structures, hand-worked leather—often antiqued—and traditional capitonné upholstery. This trio (wood + antiqued leather + capitonné), accompanied by refined surface finishes and patinas, appears consistently across both historical and contemporary collections and defines the brand’s identity.

What role does experimentation play in your creative process?

Experimentation is fundamental to our creative vision. It allows us to reinterpret a classical heritage through new forms, materials, and techniques. This approach fosters an ongoing dialogue between Tuscan artisanal tradition and innovation, giving life to collections that honor Mantellassi’s distinctive character while embracing a contemporary perspective.
