Tree with Goldfinch Decorative Plate

A collectors piece that can be displayed alone or with others by Tuscan ceramist Dalila Chessa to enliven a kitchen, entryway or dining room wall, this ceramic plate depicts a European goldfinch perched on a tree, painted by hand in black and white with just a touch of red for the bird's face. Crafted by hand using the ancient englobe technique, which requires high technical expertise, the plate is first worked on a lathe, painted and fired in the kiln at 1000°C. The glazing step is followed by a final firing at 930°C to achieve the glossy finish and chromatic vibrancy.
