Il Fanale

Lighting Maker - Veneto, Italy

The first chapter of Il Fanale’s story starts in 1979 when Fausto Dalla Torre and his wife, Luisa Martin, opened a small lamp workshop in Treviso. Their children Marzia and Tomas joined the family business in 2004, dedicating themselves to enriching the brand with contemporary-style collections. Since 2015, serving respectively as General Manager and Artistic Director, they have become the creative driving force behind the company's new direction - one enriched by collaborations with talented designers, culminating in the outdoor lamp Bitta, designed by Enzo Berti, winning the Compasso d'Oro, one of the most prestigious recognitions in design.

Works of Light with a mediterranean spirit

Founded in 1979 by Fausto Dalla Torre and Luisa Martin on the outskirts of Treviso, Il Fanale is an Italian company that interprets light through a balance of contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship. Today, under the leadership of the second generation—Marzia and Tomas Dalla Torre—it continues to develop a design language inspired by the Mediterranean, a meeting place of cultures, materials, and expertise.

The company works with metals such as brass, copper, and iron, combining them with local specialties, including Murano glass and Bassano ceramics. Each lamp is the result of a process that unites design, research, and masterful craftsmanship.

The distinctive feature of Fanale’s craftsmanship is “anticatura,” a process of accelerated oxidation that gives the metals a unique patina. Each piece is then hand-finished with waxes and patinas, creating one-of-a-kind shades, textures, and details. Over time, brass, copper, and iron continue to evolve naturally, acquiring new hues that reflect the dialogue between material, environment, and time. This transformation becomes an integral part of each lamp’s identity, enhancing its authenticity.

Madame is one of the brand’s most iconic collections, characterized by light and elegant lines inspired by the grace of a ballerina. The radiating lines of the body, the harmoniously proportioned shade, and the small decorative sphere define a minimalist and refined design, available in natural brass or a two-tone version. Through entirely local production and a focus on artisanal craftsmanship, Il Fanale continues to preserve and reinterpret the heritage of “Made in Italy,” transforming each lamp into a work of light destined to stand the test of time.
