The Alcove by Urjowan Alsharif Interiors

Meet the Designer

Founded by Saudi interior architect Urjowan Alsharif in 2018, Urjowan Alsharif Interiors is a boutique luxury studio specializing in bespoke, high-end residential interiors across the Gulf. Based between Dubai and Riyadh, the practice is known for concept-led spaces that balance contemporary living with craftsmanship, materiality, and cultural narrative, primarily working on private villas, family estates, and highly personalized homes.

With a background in interior architecture, Urjowan approaches each project through storytelling. Concepts are shaped by art, heritage, and the client’s lifestyle, resulting in interiors that feel timeless, personal, and thoughtfully collected. Research, material exploration, and spatial sequencing are central to the studio’s process, allowing each space to unfold as a layered experience.

Rooted in memory and craft, the studio’s design language bridges Hijazi heritage, the cultural depth of the Gulf, and a refined global perspective. Collaboration is key: working closely with artisans and specialized workshops, the studio develops bespoke elements—from joinery and furniture to lighting and collectible pieces—placing craftsmanship at the core of every project. Its portfolio spans Dubai, Riyadh, Jeddah, Kuwait, and beyond, operating at the intersection of architecture, interiors, and collectible design.

The Concept

The Alcove by Urjowan Alsharif Interiors is conceived as a contemporary Florentine alcova rooted in art, traditional craft, and the romantic atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside. Inspired by Renaissance interiors and the quiet elegance of Florence’s historic villas, the space feels timeless, poetic, and layered, as though collected over time. Designed as both sanctuary and retreat, the room reflects Florence’s enduring culture of making, bringing together historic ateliers and contemporary makers through fine woodwork, leather, ironwork, and decorative artistry. At its center, a four-poster iron bed wrapped in soft drapery recalls the curtained sleeping chambers of the Renaissance, creating a gentle architectural presence within the room. The result is intimate and quietly refined.
