Discover Palazzo Daniele, a majestic luxury hotel housed in an ancient palace in the heart of Salento. With minimal and thoughtful interiors combined with architectural grandeur, this 150-year-old Palazzo is the perfect embodiment of the traditional values of the land, with a touch of modernity that never cease to amaze.
Traditionally referred to as the heel of Italy, Salento has long been the most mysterious and hidden part of the region of Apulia in Southern Italy. With its quiet winters and loud summers, it's much more that just the perfect place to spend summer holidays. The land is filled with historical sites, oozing culture and heritage from every corner.
In the heart of this secluded land, in the small village of Gagliano del Capo, lies Palazzo Daniele, originally constructed in 1861 as a residence and gateaway to the Adriatic coastline. Today, it has been renovated as a luxury hotel for design lovers and those seeking tranquility in their rushed lvies.
Designed by the renowned architect Domenico Malinconico, the palazzo is built in a traditional Neoclassical style, with a series of open courtyards and Mediterranian landscaping, with strong influences of the typical Baroque and Byzantine styles of the area. The tall and vaulted ceilings recall the theme of stone of the walls all over the structure, with detailed and colorful frescoed that adorn every room. These structures have been preserved during the most recent renovation, that tranformed Palazzo Daniele in a minimalistic residence while keeping its majestic soul: inspired by the concept of absence, the rooms have been stripped of every surplus, letting the architecture and spaces speak for themselves.
The interiors, curated by the Milanese studio Palomba Serafini Associati, are focused on an essential selection of iconic pieces and beskope furniture: with just a few design pieces for each room, every feature is able to stand out on its own creating a sense of tranquility and freedom to explore.
The nine suites overlook the other focus points of the palace: the light-filled courtyard and garden, the private pool and the town square frame the Palazzo and immerse the guests in community values and traditions. Additionally, the Master Suite has its own private living room with an impressive collection of art, another one of the staple features of Palazzo Daniele: each year, Salento is the setting of the international Capo d'Arte art show, a globally recognized event celebrating the artistic tradition of the land.
Palazzo Daniele offers an all-aroud experience of the region for its guests. As defined by the owners, hyper-localism and community are the core values of the social concept of the palazzo, and visitor are encouraged to intertwine with the local community by angling with neighboring fishermen and exploring nearby farms to collect authentic organic food that the Chef will cook during a dedicated private lesson.
By living the authentic traditional life of the land and lounging in an immersive and luxurious experience, Palazzo Daniele ensures that the stay of its guests is as much an exclusive retreat as a it is an authentic encounter with tradition and communal life, while basking under the Italian sun and taking advantage of the on-site steaming room, or walking down the citrus trees admiring the stunning views.
