Avant-Garde Design Meets Italian Craftsmanship

Based in Pesaro and rooted in the best of Italian craft tradition, Ultramobili has built its name on a clear conviction: that furniture should be as intelligent as it is beautiful. Working with talented international designers and local master artisans, the brand produces bespoke collections for private residences and contract interiors alike. In this conversation, Elena and Giacomo — the voices behind Ultramobili — share the thinking behind their process.

A testament to contemporary design, Ultramobili is an avant-garde brand renowned for iconic and bespoke furniture for both private and contract interiors. Partnering with local master craftsmen from Pesaro, their ultra-modern collections by talented international designers embody Ultramobili’s commitment to exclusive finishes, advanced functionality, and uncompromising quality. Grounded in tradition with an eye to the future, their tailor-made solutions reflect customers’ diverse tastes and cutting-edge design vision.

Ultramobili works on highly custom and innovative projects. How do you structure the process between the client’s needs and the designer’s creative freedom?

Elena: For us at Ultramobili, the boundary between the client’s needs and the designer’s creative freedom is not a dividing line — it’s a space for dialogue. We don’t see customization as a simple modification of an existing catalog, but as a natural extension of our radical philosophy. We are always open to any custom request, because for us it represents an opportunity for research and growth: it allows us to look at our products from new perspectives, exploring fresh possibilities in color, dimension, and content.

Giacomo: The custom request process is built on listening — truly understanding what the client needs. We go all the way: we prepare detailed product specifications with finishes and all custom elements requested; we determine the most effective production approach; we send samples of both standard and non-standard finishes; and we work through every necessary technical detail, including differences between European and American markets when it comes to electrical components. On the production side, our job is to figure out how to concretely realize or adapt the client’s requests. The goal is always to find solutions that satisfy both parties — and to transform every custom request into a coherent, well-designed product executed at the highest possible level of quality.

Your collections unite advanced functionality and aesthetic research. How would you define your approach to the concept of “contemporary luxury”?

Elena: For us, “contemporary luxury” expresses itself through the simplicity of forms combined with the quality of materials and finishes. We believe in authentic, honest design, where functionality matters just as much as aesthetics. Luxury today is not excess — it’s attention to detail: the depth of colors, the richness of finishes, the quality and the ability to create products that are elegant, functional, and built to last. To that, we add a highly personalized client experience, which for us is a fundamental part of what contemporary luxury actually means.

Giacomo: Luxury is no longer about owning something expensive — it’s about owning something deeply intelligent and profoundly beautiful. We have no interest in decorativism. We aim for an aesthetic that is the direct expression of quality.

How does collaboration with local artisans shape the final result and the identity of your products?

Elena: We handle the technical development of our products: we study the materials, the production techniques, and every possible solution to realize each piece as well as it can be made. When the project passes into the hands of the artisans, their concrete knowledge comes into play — their deep understanding of materials, processes, and production technologies. It is precisely from this ongoing exchange between the designer’s expertise and the artisan’s expertise that the final result is born. The collaboration allows us to refine every detail and transform an idea into a complete product, ready to be delivered to the client.

Giacomo: Craftsmanship is the highest form of personalization. Working with local experts allows us to push aesthetics beyond what any machine can achieve.
