At Sirecom, a rug is never just a decorative element: it’s a sensory, architectural, and cultural expression. Blending centuries-old techniques with cutting-edge customization tools, Sirecom crafts bespoke rugs that elevate interior spaces with meaning and soul. In this interview, the brand shares its creative process, the harmony between tradition and innovation, and why a custom rug is a conscious act of design.

Since 1976, Sirecom, a company from Concorezzo of Monza and Brianza, has specialized in the production of bespoke and personalized rugs. The custom-made collections interpret the unique style of each client. Each carpet becomes the protagonist of the environment, the interpreter of flavors and trends. A protagonist that can tap into the fantasy of tufted rugs, the emotions of trendy rugs, the rich sobriety of natural fibers and the extraordinary composite richness of kilims and knots of various origins and eras.

What is the creative process behind a Sirecom rug, from concept to completion?
Every Sirecom rug begins as a dialogue—a convergence of vision, function, and aesthetic inspiration. We collaborate closely with architects, designers, and creatives, from established names to emerging studios, to shape pieces that go beyond product and become part of an environment’s story.
Colors are often inspired by nature—stone, sand, oxidized metals, plant fibers, light. Shapes and proportions echo art, sculpture, and architecture. This vision is realized through our global network of master artisans using traditional techniques: hand-knotting, tufting, flatweaving, kilim, and more, each chosen for its unique tactile and visual effect.
We believe a rug is not an accessory, it’s a narrative presence that sets the rhythm of a space. Our process is a blend of design, material, and time, where emotion and technique meet.

How do tradition and innovation coexist in your day-to-day work?
In the world of rugs, tradition is not an abstract concept. It’s a physical, tangible discipline. Every knot, every weft, every warp carries an ancient memory that has traveled through continents, centuries, and civilizations. At Sirecom, we honor this heritage with profound respect: our rugs are crafted by expert hands that understand the patience of doing things well, the measure of a repeated gesture, and the value of time invested in every centimeter.
At the same time, our gaze is firmly set on the present. Innovation enters our work quietly, helping to expand creative possibilities, simplify design flows, and encourage the expressive freedom of our designers. This is the context in which our online 3D Configurator was born: an immersive platform designed for professionals and planners that allows for the creation of customized rugs in real time.
The designer can choose from over 130 patterns, combine more than 2,400 color codes, select dimensions, weaving techniques, finishes, and materials. The result is a highly accurate simulation of the final product—one that accelerates decisions and opens the door to endless possibilities.
This coexistence between old and new is never forced. It’s an organic dialogue. Technology does not replace the human hand; it supports it. Digital design does not erase tradition; it accompanies, respects, and updates it. The Configurator is the starting point, but the true form only emerges when the knowledge of the artisan comes into play.
For us, tradition and innovation are not opposing forces. They are two threads of the same weave: together they provide structure, direction, and depth to everything we create.

In your view, what is the added value of a custom-made rug compared to an industrial one?
A custom-made rug is a conscious design act. It is not created to adapt to any generic space—it is made to belong to a specific place, to a unique vision. Every element—proportion, scale, geometry, color, texture—is studied to resonate with the architectural and sensory identity of the space it’s destined for.
In this sense, a custom rug is not just a decorative object. It becomes part of the project’s narrative structure. It can balance a room, anchor a composition, create a vanishing point, add rhythm or introduce silence. It can serve as a threshold, a field, a sign. And it does all this with a subtle language that interacts with materials, light, and furnishings—without overpowering them.
Even simple rugs, when hand-knotted, can work discreetly in almost any environment. They can bring in just the right hue or shimmer to support a space—a quality that designers instinctively understand. But a custom-made rug always takes a position, adopts a meaning. It becomes an interpreter of a certain sensitivity, a domestic ritual—like gathering around a table or relaxing on the sofa with loved ones.
In that way, a rug makes a statement: a choice of character, an intentional design gesture. And it carries with it a value that goes beyond the object—material and immaterial: time, thought, craftsmanship.
In a world that rewards speed and sameness, a custom rug is an elegant form of resistance. It returns meaning to design, reminding us that what we choose to live with should be unique, necessary, and authentic. And it offers a level of quality that only centuries-old artisanal tradition can truly guarantee.
