A result of painstaking research into traditional female garments and accessories from different ethnic groups, this superb painting depicts a Russian woman - Anoushka - on her wedding day. The colorful floral embroideries of her coat splendidly contrast with the golden-toned pearls and gemstones adorning her kokošnik (headdress) and her fur collar, the latter harmonizing with the muff keeping her hands warm.
