This stunning fruit plate is part of the Blue Bestiary, a series of uniquely hand-painted ceramic pieces with a glazed surface. Its eclectic design was inspired by the artist's love for Medieval iconography, by a manuscript about herbs published around 1350-1375 in Northern Italy and entitled "Compendium Salernitanum," and J.L. Borges "The Book of Imaginary Beings." Hand-painted with the "engobbio" method in blue, black, and light grey on the white background, is an Arpia, a creature from ancient Greek mythology.
