This elegant cake plate is entirely handcrafted of clay and hand-painted with a design of black waves on one side of the ivory background. The glossy finish is obtained with the traditional Japanese Raku technique whereby after firing at low temperature in the kiln the piece is allowed to dry in the open air to obtain its distinct texture. With its flat surface it's perfect for serving cakes and pastries during parties or simply displayed on a coffee table. The colors used are non-toxic and can be used safely with food.
