Crocus Ortensis Dinner Plate

Crocus Ortensis Dinner Plate - Chiara Terraneo

Decorated by hand on a clay plate with a glazed surface using the traditional "engobbio" technique, this exquisite dinner plate is a functional work of art that will imbue with eclectic dynamism a modern interior. It is part of the Blue Bestiary collection, inspired by a manuscript on herbs published in Northern Italy around 1350-1375, by "The Book on Imaginary Beings" by J.L. Borges, and by the artist's trips to the Dolomites. On the white background a Crocus Ortiensis, a plant commonly known as saffron crocus, is depicted using blue, light grey, and black.
