Ars Fabricandi

Dark Boléia Chair

This exemplary chair is named after the Boléia, the Brazilian word for the truck's cabin where a trucker lives while on the road. The chair is made of Italian full-grain leather, shaped into organic, modernistic forms that seem to be suspended in the air. The leather is supported by a simple orthogonal wooden structure. The organic forms of the leather embrace and contrast with the wooden structure’s straight lines, creating a dialogue between the two. The wooden pieces, as well as the leather, are joint by brass screws. All the hardware was tailor-made for the Boléia chair.
