Supported by two rectangular iron legs set perpendicular to each other, the top of this one-off table comes from an elm trunk aged around 150 - 180 years, from a private park in Austria. Elm trees were quite common in Europe but in the early 20th century they were decimated by a disease - graphiosis - this is why this tree is particularly rare. Restored to new life, this exceptional piece respects the natural shape of the trunk, showing a crack where the main branch joins with the trunk, which can be filled with resin or left open to highlight its powerful and expressive aesthetics.
