Ars Fabricandi

Light Boléia Chair

This chair gets its name from a truckers living cabin, called a Boléia in Brazil. The unique construction of this chair uses only a minimalist wooden orthogonal structure with a seat and backrest formed from a single piece of leather, featuring an organic and modernistic shape, which seems to float in mid air. The two contrasting materials balance each other out with the soft embrace of the leather around the wood's linear structure. The connecting brass bars and the brass screws were each tailor-made specifically for the Boléia chair.
