Maternità Polychrome Lustre Tile

Maternità Polychrome Lustre Tile - Matteo Salsano

Inspired by the artworks by Irene Kowaliska - a Polish artist who lived in Vietri sul Mare and Positano around the '20s and '30s - this marvelous ceramic tile of a boy sitting in his mother's lap is distinguished by a special metallic luster. It is obtained by following an ancient Persian technique that involves the use of chlorides, nitrates, and sulfates in addition to a special second firing in a reduction kiln.
