The Nuptial White Vase by Walter Usai

A traditional wedding present, this piece was used to store water by the bed at night in Sardinian homes. With the introduction of running water, it lost its practical use and became a larger decorative object. Designed by Walter Usai, a fourth-generation potter, this piece was handmade of terracotta with an unleaded glaze that features a stunning white finish. Traditional symbols adorn its top: leaves, roses, and "pavoncelle", small peacocks that symbolize fertility. This magnificent piece can be displayed alone, or with the other vases by Pretziada.
