Part of the superb Medici Collection, this Neo-Classical vase is a work of art comprising five parts that were separately molded, then fired, and finally assembled to create this urn-shaped masterpiece. Taken from a Richard Ginori design from the early decades of the 19th century, one side of the relief decoration elegantly depicts the classical theme of the Triumph of the Sun, with Apollo on his chariot, while the other side features two cherubs with doves. The inspirations for these scenes are seen in the Medici Collections in Florence dating from the end of the 16th century.
