This stunning decorative piece was crafted of "terraglia bianca", a clay typical of the traditional ceramic from Lodi, a town by Milan. The surface of the sphere is decorated with a series of enamel-finished decal that use Japanese rice paper sheets of different patterns. A distinctive trait of the Lodi ceramic are the striking cracks that embellish its crystal-like surface that appear with time and exposure to heat. These marks are a charming sign of use and are considered a unique addition to the piece in the spirit of the Japanese wabi-sabi philosophy.
