Born in Bologna to a family of art collectors, Luisa Longo studied at the Ècole du Louvre in Paris where she first began painting on organza, silks, and satins (Fibre Art). Longo combines these versatile textiles with water-based colors, special acrylics, and powder pigments for a striking see-through effect, transforming her pieces into decorative objects and home furnishing accessories. Longo draws inspiration from symbolism and expressionism, her pieces a constant exploration of the cosmos, nature, and music. She lives in Trastevere, Rome in her Guest House-Fibre Art Studio.
I am inspired by symbolism and expressionism, through a constant exploration of the cosmos, nature, music
Luisa Longo's work revolves around the concept of cross-over and admixture of design, craftsmanship and art, in particular Fiber art, which applies a mix of thecniques on the fabric.
With the aim of relating decorative arts, painting and design, Luisa moves in the wake of the concept of a total work of art and the idea of bringing beauty into everyone's daily life.
The continuous research into support materials, pigments and techniques, has encouraged Luisa to paint on organza, a favourite medium for her artistic projects. The silk organza allows her to obtain the effects of brightness and dynamism that are particular to her.
