How would you describe your personal style and what's the personal signature and makes your projects unique?
My personal style has always been driven by a love of unexpected designs. No two projects are ever alike, but each is rooted in creating sophisticated spaces that are both luxurious and livable. These are spaces where memories will be made and we design them to be as personal and special as the homeowners themselves.
Where do you draw inspiration for your projects?
I draw design inspiration from literally everything, be it travel, nature, architecture, old buildings, shape, color, fashion - even a horse’s saddle is a source of design inspiration. Design inspiration is everywhere if you look for it.
In a hyper-digital world, do you often turn to social media for inspiration? If yes, which is thesocial media platform you use and why?
Social media can be a great source of inspiration and I enjoy browsing through Pinterest and Instagram for design inspiration. One of the wonderful aspects of social media is that it exposes you to new designs and products from every corner of the world. We were once so limited in our ability to see such a depth of designs. Social media brings us a rich source of inspiration that is fresh, current and ever changing. It keeps us connected to what’s happening in the global world of design.
What is the decorative piece you enjoy selecting for your clients and why?
I love selecting lighting with my clients -- it's the statement jewelry in every room, even if you just want to make a subtle statement. Without beautiful lighting, the room feels naked and unfinished.
What do you think is the next big trend in interior design?
We’re seeing a shift back to color with bright and bold colors used much more liberally. After a year of being locked inside, people are ready to bring more color into their lives. We also see people embracing more unusual shapes and geometric forms in their design. These trends are reminiscent of the 80's Memphis movement but more livable and relatable.
What is your approach and philosophy when designing?
My design approach and philosophy are intertwined. It's about taking time to get to know the client deeply and developing a shared vision for their perfect home. I begin each project with fresh eyes, curiosity and enthusiasm to identify what home means to each client, how they will live there and what they want it to feel like. After those initial meetings I often think in pictures - colors and patterns will come to me when I'm sleeping and I’ll wake with design details worked out in my mind that I can’t wait to share.
Do you have a design master you look up to?
I’ve always admired the work of Tommi Parzinger for his unique ideas and dedication to craftsmanship. His cosmopolitan designs and blending of textures and techniques are incredibly inspiring.
