Chaise longue in hairyskin. One of Cassina’s worldwide best-sellers, the 4, Chaise Longue à reglage continu is the quintessential chaise longue, designed in 1928, and based on an in-depth exploration of reclining chairs. The three designers devised the 4, Chaise Longue à reglage continu as an expression of the concept of relaxation, with a focus on the human figure, the link between form and function being reflected in the balance between geometric purity and ergonomic intent. The stability of the lounger, whatever the angle of inclination, is provided by the rubber tubes covering the cross-bars of the underlying frame. As with the other models, the 4, Chaise Longue à reglage continu is based on measurements derived from the Modulor. Today this model is proposed again in the “full black” version, with black base, frame and upholstery.

Billiani, wooden and color chairs

Billiani is an Italian company that has been producing chairs for over a century in an area of small, specialized workshops, where the culture of wood has deep roots. Founded in 1911, Billiani is a company that believes in Made in Italy and design: its products, conceived in collaboration with both Italian and international designers, are an expression of a shared cultural heritage, as well as a family history. Billiani is located in Manzano, in the heart of a district that built its fortune on chairs, an area of small workshops and artisanal companies that carry forward a centuries-old heritage of knowledge.

«The work of Billiani is linked and intertwined with that of the local productive fabric: a guarantee of quality but also an investment in the supply chain, because every innovation enriches the know-how of the entire district».

Raw material is an essential component of Billiani's design. The material of choice is wood: beech, oak, ash, and walnut, which are selected and worked based on their technical and aesthetic characteristics. Much attention is also given to the textile component: Billiani's fabric collection is the result of chromatic and material research aimed at enhancing the shapes and volumes of the upholstered pieces, as well as their tactile appearance. Finally, Billiani relies on the craftsmanship of specialized workshops for metal and marble processing, as well as for the weaving of ropes, cords, and leathers.
