This vase is directly inspired by Egyptian canopic jars; it is an ironic and contemporary reinterpretation of an ancestral object, a tutelary deity of domestic tranquility. Athena, the Greek goddess, was represented with an owl symbolizing wisdom and ancestral knowledge; contrary to many beliefs this animal is an auspicious presence. Handcrafted and glazed with oxides and crystalline, the work becomes a unique, precious, and sculptural object.
