This carpet designed by George J. Sowden is part of a 36-piece series signed by the designer and entirely handmade in Nepal by artisans who still use ancient artisanal methods in working the Tibetan wool, knotting it by hand, dying it by hand, and following every step of production. The warp is in cotton, while the soft Tibetan wool makes the weave. This one-of-a-kind piece of functional design features a series of geometric patterns in green and yellow that will add a touch of color to any home. Handmade by craftsmen in Uma technique. Life's Commodities 2003 Collection.

Discovering the Artisan
Giberto Arrivabene
Veneto, Italy | Glassmith
Giberto Arrivabene was raised by strong female figures in Palazzo Papadopoli, Venice, surrounded by frescoes of Giambattista Tiepolo and other artists. The context in which he grew up had a great impact on his unique aesthetic sense. Love for glass and craftsmanship is at the heart of his work. Giberto creates each piece starting first with a watercolor sketch and then handing it to expert glass blowers carvers from the glass capital Murano. These true artists are entrusted with the difficult work of engraving designs of any kind.Discover more
