Mamita 3 Pen Drawing on Paper

A celebration of earth mother in its maximum expression of fertility, this one-off pen-on-wrapping paper drawing belongs to the 2022 "Corale Corviale" artistic residence program on the outskirts of Rome. The superb piece pays homage to the Venus of Willendorf, a Paleolithic fertility and mother goddess figurine, and underscores the irony how one of Rome's male-centric public housing projects is build atop where a pantheistic temple once stood where Mother Earth was celebrated.
