Luca Leandri
Mano Sculpture
Description
Born from a concept developed by master sculptor Leandri for a 2014 exhibition dedicated to "ex-votos" (a votive offering to a saint given in fulfillment of a vow, or in gratitude, or devotion), the series Madre Testa features open heads divided in two, with a smaller element impressed inside. This head has a carved hand ("mano" in Italian) inside, a symbol of the centrality of man in nature, like the other featured elements (ear, tree, heart, letters, number, etc.). Finished in a black-bronze color, the two halves can be displayed open (like in the photo) or in any other preferred position.
