A stunning addition to modern or rustic decor, this bar chest is a precious example of gothic style originated in the French region of Elsass, at the border with Germany. Handmade using 400-600 years old larch, this piece boasts striking traditional decorations on sides and front that were hand-carved in symmetrical bas-relief motifs. A small button on the sides activates a hydraulic system that allows the piece to easily open (also available with remote control upon request). This chest is also available in a larger size.

Discovering the Artisan

Falegnameria Helmut Santifaller
Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy | Carpenter
Located by the town of Ortisei, in Val Gardena on the Dolomites Mountains, the workshop of Falegnameria Helmut Santifaller is inspired by the local wood carving tradition from this area. Experienced carpenters handcraft each piece of furniture, which is then hand decorated by expert artisans to create distinctive and timeless objects of functional décor that can be passed down for generations. Often using reclaimed, antique wood, these craftsmen use traditional methods to bring each piece to life, adding at times small modern elements for a timeless effect.Discover more
