An unconventional embodiment of a dynamic and fast-paced reality, DalMoto is a design brand based near the majestic Lake Como inspired by Futurist Italian architect Antonio Sant’Elia. Creating contemporary pieces following traditional crafting techniques combined with new technologies, each design is distinguished by meticulously handmade details that enhance their durability and comfort.
Dalmoto is a philosophy, a way of seeing the reality that surrounds us. Behind each object is a vision: to convey dynamism and speed with a different design approach, rich in contaminations and non-traditional canons of furniture
Founded in 2022, the atelier on the tranquil shores of Lake Como is a haven where designs come to life. Designers Francesco Manfredi and Tommaso Lorenzini curate the furniture collection by blending their background in automotive designers and love for the great Futurist painters of the 20th century, shaping a unique style of representing reality.
Speed of line, color choices, attention and redistribution to proportions are the identifying marks of Dalmoto. The goal is to create through the collection an almost utopian environment in which pieces interact with each other and evoke the constant sensation of movement as opposed to the classic static nature of furniture by redefining the way we live. The representation of an increasingly dynamic and frenetic reality often derives from the past, investigating the works of the great futurist painters of the 20th century, such as Giacomo Balla and Umberto Boccioni, or from the evocative ideals of architect Sant'Elia, whose mission was to visually represent movement as a trace of a society in constant evolution.
Witnessing Dalmoto's identity is the Kylindo lounge chair. A small armchair with rethought proportions, it was born from a game of cylinder extrusion, a geometric figure derived from the complete rotation of a rectangle around one of its sides. The low seat is designed to create a cozy and intimate environment with its surroundings.
Each piece of furniture is made entirely by hand, combining the best materials with new technologies to offer quality and performance over time. Their master craftsmen are engaged in the care of numerous fine materials. Master blacksmiths work from stainless steel to galvanic and decorative metal treatments to give surfaces unique treatments. Master cabinetmakers work with fine woods and hand-decoration of wood to create extraordinary textures; other materials such as leathers and fabrics are the result of a skillful search for the finest materials and the highest quality offered combined with the savoir-faire of experts. The synergy of valuable traditional materials with ongoing technological research into the performance of interior components, often nautically derived, such as special polyurethane finishes or anti-salt treatment processes for metals, testifies to the product's vocation.
Making rather complicated products, the biggest challenge is to channel and combine the wide range of materials involved to achieve the best possible balance. The Como and Brianza area, where craftsmanship and attention to detail are at home, remains the ideal geographic area to encapsulate the craftsmanship of Dalmoto products, where Francesco and Tommaso sign the design and work constantly in pursuit of the definition of perfection.
