Borzalino represents a long-standing Tuscan family tradition: how is this artisanal heritage being renewed today under the guidance of the new generation?

It is renewed by looking toward the future, with close attention to the evolution of markets and to the expectations of an increasingly informed and discerning clientele.

Artisanal heritage remains at the heart of Borzalino, but it is now embedded within a broader vision—one that is capable of engaging with new contexts, new projects, new products, and even new product categories, as well as new ways of living and experiencing spaces. This inevitably entails making choices, sometimes complex ones, yet always guided by a central and non-negotiable principle: care.

In your projects, attention to detail is clearly evident: how important is dialogue with the client in achieving the balance between aesthetics, function, and absolute quality?

It is essential. Dialogue is not an ancillary phase, but an integral part of the project itself. Only through an authentic exchange is it possible to truly understand the context, the functional needs, and the expectations—even those that are not always explicitly expressed.

For us, aesthetics are never an end in themselves. They must be supported by a constructive, functional, and long-lasting logic. Dialogue with the client is what enables us to find the right balance between form and substance, transforming a beautiful object into a truly right one. This is why we value discussion and provide technical support to all the professionals and clients we collaborate with, so that everyone becomes an active participant in the development of the project.

Which innovations in materials or techniques feel most aligned with your vision, while remaining faithful to your historical identity?

Those that genuinely improve the product, without altering its language.
We are interested in—and curious about—all innovations that make materials and craftsmanship more high-performing, more stable over time, and better suited to everyday use, while maintaining an aesthetic that is coherent with our identity.

We work extensively on the evolution of structures, padding, assembly techniques, and finishes, intervening where necessary to enhance comfort, reliability, and constructional precision. The search for new materials is a wonderful and extremely enriching process. When we identify a particularly interesting one, it always undergoes internal evaluation to verify its compatibility with our quality standards.

The goal is not to showcase innovation, but to make it function at its very best within our products.
