For Carpanelli, excellence lies in being an "evergreen" company that practices modern fine cabinetmaking. One technical detail we can't do without is the use of geometric inlays, crafted in precious woods such as Tay — in both light and dark versions — and Canaletto walnut. As seen in the Alfea collection or the Circle table, these elements are not mere decoration but expressions of a craftsmanship that prizes attention to detail and the refinement of the handmade. Another essential aspect is the use of solid wood for structures and bases, ensuring both durability and a lasting aesthetic value over time.

Your collections often feature a rich and distinctive decorative language. How do you balance ornamental tradition with a contemporary sensibility?

The balance comes through an innovative reinterpretation of tradition. Carpanelli distills an equilibrium between refined elegance and emotional impact, creating furniture that, while rich in history, presents clean and sophisticated lines. Our inspiration often comes from icons of architecture or culture — the prow of a Venetian gondola for the Dolfin armchair, the Tower of Pisa for the Alfea sideboard, or Piazza Gae Aulenti for the Gae system bookcase — translating historic or urban forms into contemporary, functional design. Initiatives like the international competition Ideas4wood also allow us to look to the future, integrating the visions of young emerging designers with our roots as cabinetmakers.

How does your research into materials and finishes contribute to the narrative character of your furniture?

Materials aren't simply components; they're the protagonists of a "chromatic journey" and a tactile exploration. The narrative of our furniture unfolds through the harmonious pairing of precious woods, matte marbles — such as Calacatta gold or Lepanto green — metals in bronze-gold, lead, or burnished finishes, and leather with exposed stitching. This material variety creates sophisticated spaces where light, refracting across the natural surfaces, generates a visual experience that is always new. The choice of natural finishes also plays its part: tinted woods that mature into shifting tones over time, depending on the tree they came from, help tell the story of a piece of furniture that feels alive and authentic.
