Atene Era Lì Carrara Sculpture

Named after the Italian for "Athens was there", this sculpture is a contemporary reinterpretation of anthropomorphic statues from antiquity retrieved too often in incomplete condition. The female body, enhanced by tight, gently pleated garments, sits atop a thick Green Guatemala marble base and is obtained by sculpting white Statuario Carrara marble. A painstaking etching step lends the piece a striking textural quality.
