Inspired by the texture of watermelons rind, Tsuchida Yasuhiko designed a limited series of vases recreating that unique pattern in vibrant unnatural colors, representing the four natural elements. This one-of-a-kind hand-blown masterpiece was made in Murano in 2001 and embodies the element of water. The calm light-blue stripped surface has been polished to give it a mat finishing that is able to give glass an organic appearance. The cap is enriched by a translucent rough piece.

Vetreria Franco Schiavon
Veneto, Italy | Glassmith
Founded in 1963 by Franco Schiavon as a tribute to his father, Alfio, the namesake gallery and workshop is now one of the most prestigious on the island of Murano. Merging traditional and innovative practices, the Franco Schiavon Gallery has since then welcomed several artists from the national and international scene to design, produce, and exhibit their works, such as Japanese Tsuchida Yasuhiko, who combines the philosophy of his homeland with the traditions of Murano, and Margherita Barbini, a former art teacher from a well-known glassmaking family.Discover more
