The Amerigo placemats are made with the remaining 260mt of fabric used in the sailcloth of 2012 Amerigo Vespucci sail boat. The sailcloths were manufactured in 2012 at a historical weaving mill in the North of Italy. The blue line that runs across the fabric serves as a guide for the stitching. When the fabric is wet, it is stiff, but once it dries it returns to its soft original texture. Each piece is handcrafted by women from a sail factory on the Isola delle Femmine (Women's Island).
