Part of a series inspired by medieval collections of real and fantastical creatures and by the paintings on the ceilings of Egyptians pyramids, this set of espresso cup and saucer was entirely hand painted over a clay surface with a glazed finish. On the white background of the cup (Ø 8 cm, H 4.5 cm), the artist used the typical colors of the traditional "engobbio" technique (light grey, blue, and black) to create the playfully eclectic portrait of a horse striking its tongue out of its mouth. The saucer (Ø 12 cm) is adorned with an eclectic rendition of a starry sky.
