Branched Skull sculpture

This wooden sculpture was created following a vision that the trunk itself suggested with its shapes. It is sculpted in a traditional way on a pruning waste of precious Khaki wood (Diospyros) which has, according to Japanese tradition, a profound connection with life and death. The piece features different knots, spots, cavities, and textures that give the skull a weathered appearance, and the branches have been preserved, which contributes to the idea of a metamorphosis between human and tree.
