This exquisite texture of this vase results from a technique developed by Davies through the years that combines the perfect blend of high-temperature stoneware clays with specific firing methods (second firing at 1300°C in an oxygen-reduction atmosphere kiln). A collector's item of great artistic value, this one-off vase has a distinctive cracked earth surface and a celadon glazed interior emerging through the jagged mouth that enhances its burnt, organic color.
