Nathalie Du Pasquier was born in Bordeaux, France in 1957, but since 1979 she has been living in Milan, city where she met her husband, the designer George Sowden, who first introduced her to the world of design. In 1981, Nathalie Du Pasquier became a designer and co-founding member of the iconic postmodern design movement Memphis Group, together with Ettore Sottsass, Alessandro Mendini, Andrea Branzi and other iconic designers.

Nathalie du Pasquier made a unique contribution in feeding and creating the Memphis iconic style, designing numerous furniture and decor pieces such as textiles, carpets, furniture and plastic laminates. All her designs carry her distinctive colorful and exotic style, incredibly unique and highly recognizable where bright colors mix with bold lines to create one of a kind patterns.

Nathalie has worked as a designer for Memphis since 1986. In 1987, however, painting and sculpture in her Milan studio became her main activity: she has had exhibitions of her paintings at many galleries worldwide but she continued to design textiles as well, including patterns for clothes produced by American Apparel in 2014.

In February 2015, Power House Books published "Don't Take These Drawings Too Seriously", a book that collects all the unpublished Du Pasquier drawings. You can read Artemest interview with Nathalie Du Pasquier on our magazine to deepen your knowledge.
