Ancora Cortina: A Historic Icon Reimagined by Renzo Rosso

Nestled in the heart of Corso Italia, Ancora Cortina reopens its doors after a meticulous restoration, blending history, design, and contemporary Alpine elegance. Under the vision of Renzo Rosso, the hotel reasserts its role as a cultural and social hub, inviting guests to experience Cortina d’Ampezzo in a wholly personal and immersive way.

For nearly two centuries, Ancora Cortina has stood as a symbol of hospitality in the Dolomites, a meeting place for seasons, stories, and people. Originally established in 1826, the hotel has been thoughtfully reimagined and reopened in June 2025 under the vision of Renzo Rosso, founder of the OTB group.

Today, Ancora is a living, breathing space that celebrates history, design, and connection.

I have always wanted to create a place that surprises at first glance, but also makes anyone truly feel at home.

The interiors, curated by Vicky Charles of Charles & Co, reflect a seamless dialogue between natural materials, warm tones, and the surrounding Alpine landscape. Each of the 35 rooms possesses its own distinct identity, with bespoke details, textures, and colors that evoke both intimacy and elegance. As Charles notes, “Every room was to be a refuge, as Renzo wished. Bold, without being loud.” The hotel’s public spaces follow the same philosophy, balancing functionality with a soulful character.

From the terrace overlooking Corso Italia to the spa, the hotel encourages a life of curiosity and wellness. Gastronomy celebrates local ingredients, while the Brave Club injects a discreet, nocturnal energy, recalling a time when social connection thrived beyond screens. Ancora Cortina is designed as a place to live fully, from mindful Alpine walks to botanical mixology at sunset, offering a new perspective on high-altitude hospitality.

With the approaching 2026 Winter Olympics, Ancora positions itself at the center of Cortina’s evolving identity. As Rosso reflects, “I chose Cortina because it is the most beautiful mountain destination in the world. Every step reveals a view more enchanting than the last.”

Through its revival, Ancora Cortina reaffirms its place not just in the town, but in the hearts of those who seek a profound and personal encounter with the Dolomites.
