Fazzoletti Opalini Red Vase by Fulvio Bianconi # 2

Designed by Fulvio Bianconi in 1948, this splendid vase is crafted of mouth-blown glass in a handkerchief shape that gives the collection its name ("fazzoletto" in Italian). Master glassblowers cut open the ball of molten glass before it sets and work it by hand to form distinctive folds. Each piece is unique, and the vivid red color is obtained by layering sheets of colored glass onto the milky-white base, using the opaline technique.
