Galleria Romanelli
Laocoon Head Plaster Sculpture
Description
This plaster sculpture by Galleria Romanelli reproduces the head of Laocoon, a small fraction of the large renowned Roman sculptural group hosted in the Vatican Museums. The original represents the story of Laocoon, part of Homer's Odyssey, in particular his fight and suffering at the hands of the Greek Gods during the Trojan war. As many other ancient sculptures reproduced by the artists of Galleria Romanelli, the Laocoon is characterized by tragedy, which can be observed in the exhausted eyes of the Trojan priest.
