San Giorgio Sculpture

The sculpture, inspired by one of Donatello's masterpieces, depicts the warrior St. George, watching what is happening, nervous but focused and ready to take action. He represents a hero, a model of human behavior that anyone can identify with. The protagonist's head is turned somewhat (perhaps toward the enemy) and this movement gives the statue dynamism. The original sculpture is located in the Bargello Museum in Florence, while this one was entirely crafted by hand by Romanelli artists.
